Initially, Moi University students could pay for tuition and accommodation fees directly through various banks. 

But in 2023, president William Ruto directed all government entities to collect funds using single paybill 222222 using the e-citizen platform. 

Moi University has since adopted the platform and now students can pay for fees directly through their student portals

So, here is a simplified, step-by-step guide on how to pay for Moi University fees using M-Pesa, E-Citizen Paybill 222222:

1. First, you have to be a bonafide student of Moi University, with access to the Moi University student portal.


2. Log in to the student portal. You can click here to log in to your student portal account

3. On the dashboard, select "Make Payment."

On the student portal dashboard, click "Make Payment"

4. Choose the specific service you want to pay for, e.g tuition fees, supplementary fees,graduation fees or any other service listed, then enter the amount you wish to pay.


5.The system will generate a unique mix of letters as your account number. Note that each transaction has a different account number.

After keying in the service you wish to pay for in (4) above, enter the amount you would like to pay

6. Select the payment mode. 

Currently, supported options are:
◇M-Pesa
◇Pesa Flow
◇KCB bank
◇Equity cash
◇Coop bank
◇Airtel money
◇National bank
◇ABSA bank.

7. Majority of students use M-Pesa, so we'll use it for the purpose of this demonstration.

8. The system will provide a prompt with instructions on how to pay. DO NOT close the page.


9. In a new window:

●Dial *234# on your dial pad/sim toolkit or use Mpesa/MySafaricom App

●Select "Paybill."

●Enter Business Number 222222 (six)

●Enter the unique mix of letters provided as the Account Number.

●Enter the amount. CAUTION: The amount must match with the one you entered earlier.




●Enter your M-Pesa PIN and send.

●You'll receive a confirmation SMS from M-Pesa.




10. After confirmation, go back to the payment page and click "Complete."

11. The system will process the payment within a minute, and the amount paid will reflect on your portal immediately.



12. You can opt to download the payment receipt.

13. Congrats! You're done!
